This sun-flooded loft-style apartment in East Berlin with its little balcony is overlooking the river. Once an overused and cluttered single person’s flat, it was redesigned and tailored to work for a couple, making intelligent use of unused areas with no space wasted.
The focus was on the immense ceiling-height of this “Altbau” for a built-in storage system in the entrance and full-height library walls. Rooms have been connected by implementing larger openings and sliding doors, providing optimal use of space. This project is a perfect example of modern design where original structures and features are simultaneously preserved.
With its open plan kitchen, modern bathroom, underfloor heating and built-in speaker system, this is truly urban Berlin living at its most stylish.
